The mini player

One album at a time. Inspired by the days when we played our carefully curated MP3s and listened to one album or playlist at a time, Soneme is a simple player for doing that on your Mac.

The interface stays minimal and invites you to sit down and enjoy your music collection, focus or relax, without distractions, without the urge to keep skipping tracks, and without scrolling through an endless list of options.

Open a file or a folder, or drop an M3U playlist on the window, and press play. There’s no library to import, no account and no feed. It’s just your music, the way you used to play it.

The deck: artwork, a live spectrum, the queue, classic transport controls and a 10-band equalizer with presets, in Silver or Carbon. Fold it down to a mini player when you just want to listen.

Plays what you have: MP3, AAC, ALAC, FLAC, WAV, AIFF and more.

Soneme will stay small. Updates will go into making it better, not bigger.

Features

  • Open a file, a folder, or a playlist, or drop them on the window.
  • A queue you can search, recent folders, and the same session when you open the app again.
  • Play, pause, stop, previous, next, seek, and volume.
  • Keyboard shortcuts, the media keys, and Now Playing in Control Center.
  • Title, artist, album, and artwork when the file has them. If it has no artwork, a cover image in the album folder (such as cover.jpg) is used instead.
  • Gapless playback between tracks of the same format, so live and classical albums play without a break.
  • A spectrum, a 10-band equalizer with presets and bypass, and a limiter so a heavy EQ does not clip.
  • Your own EQ presets: save, rename and delete them, and export or import them to move to another Mac.
  • Light and Dark themes called Silver and Carbon.
  • A mini player: the same window, smaller, floating above other work. No spectrum and no queue in that view.

Questions

Do I need an account?
No. There is no account, no cloud library and nothing to import first. Open a file or a folder, or drop a playlist on the window, and listen one album at a time.
Which formats does it play?
MP3, AAC, M4A, ALAC, FLAC, WAV, AIFF and CAF. Playlists can be M3U, M3U8 or PLS.
Does Soneme run on Intel Macs?
Yes. It is a universal app, so it runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs with macOS 14 or later.
Does Soneme stream music?
No. It plays music files that are already on your Mac, storage device or mapped network path. There is no streaming service and nothing to sign in to.
How is it different from Apple Music?
Apple Music is built around a library and a streaming catalogue. Soneme plays the files and folders you point it to, one album or playlist at a time, without a library to manage.
How does the trial work?
Soneme has a 14-day free trial with everything unlocked. The trial starts the first time you open the app.
What happens when the trial ends?
The app still opens, and your queue and settings stay as they are. When you press Play, Soneme asks you to unlock it. A track that is already playing is never stopped.
Who sells Soneme, and can I get a refund?
Purchases go through Paddle, our reseller, which takes the payment, handles tax and sends the receipt. If Soneme isn't for you, you get a full refund within 14 days, no questions asked. See refunds.
How many Macs can I use it on?
All the Macs you own or use yourself. The license key works offline, and every 1.x update is free.
Is a website license valid for the App Store version?
No. A website license is for the Mac copy from this site, and it does not transfer to or from the Mac App Store copy.
Lost your key?
Use the lost key form to have it sent again to the email you bought with.
